Moqueca's Adventures

folks

hi everyone!!

this is my favorite little corner of the internet whenever I'm feeling weirdly nostalgic. I hope everyone had a lovely little weekend.

I definitely did!! I saw my first NBA game on Friday, followed by a small party with my partner's coworkers (he and I dressed up as pirates!!) and then a super fun hang out with my college friends at a cute little mall.

We meandered through dusty thrift stores and a fart-smelling spirit halloween store to piece his costume together last minute. i pieced mine together through amazon over the week, after promising i'd stop perusing the amazon web page just days prior (I love my car but not during heavy traffic time or at night - which seem to be the only times i have "time" to go out shopping).

I confirmed that I actually DID belong in my class after all - I was happy with my midterm marks.

And I reunited with my friends again!!! I really love and adore and treasure them completely. I met them in my second year of college and we just really stuck. The friend group survived living two years together (I was always doing my own thing) and living cities apart. I always just feel so at home with them, and they have made me feel so included I truly love every minute I get with them. We played an escape room for the (my) first time together and it was filled with panic and laughter and fun - it was just a super cute time. Lots of teasing and bullying and laughter - I've never met a group of people who managed to make me feel more at home before. One of them is sharp tongued and witty, another is wildly herself, while the third is calmer and I'm somehow there laughing my butt off again and somehow loved just all the same. A colorful kaleidoscope is what I see every time I am with them - life through a rotating dizzying constantly changing flashing of all the colors there ever were.

I adore the butterflies I get in my stomachs every time with them. They make me feel alive in such a special way.

And this weekend - overall. I just love people being people. They make me so happy. Like when that woman pulled down her window and asked very politely whether we'd let her merge in front of us (an exit on the freeway was closed, there was chaos everywhere at 10 at night). We said oh of very much course, asked how far she was off to.. she was off to a city further than ours. We saw her again on the freeway some time after, and waved hello again. I carried a stupid fat smile on my face - it's always cute to me to see who else shares these roads with us.

It makes the traffic feel a little less frustrating, I think. For myself, at least. Picturing everyone else also all in their own little world, trying to get from one place to another before it gets too late. Hoping for a taste of their own bed again after all day somewhere else.

What a wonderful little swimming weekend. Humans make me so happy sometimes... they really make love bloom out of my entire being at special moments.

With much love, Marina
